We do not allow class transfers between different people.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer refunds. When you buy a package of classes, you’re committing to the eight classes that you purchase. We recommend that you pay the drop-in fee to try the class if you’re unsure if you’re able to commit. We feel that we are already very lenient with our group class policies and that we give our customers ample time and freedom to find out what they want before they commit.

At Crystal Ballroom, we’re fully committed to the quality of instruction. All of our instructors are friendly, accomplished dancers, and professionally trained to provide the best dancing and learning experience for all students. Each instructor has his or her own personality and teaching style, and we recommend you browse the instructors page to learn more before you make your choice.

Classes are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

Yes, you can enroll in a class any time you want. All you have to do is show up 15 minutes early to class to fill out a simple form and purchase your class package. We recommend students enroll in a group class on the first or second class of a dance. For example, the Silver Standard class teaches four classes of Waltz, we recommend you join on the first or second class.

We understand that everyone has busy lives and that unforeseen circumstances may cause students to miss a class. Don’t fret. While we recommend that everyone attends classes on a weekly basis, no one is obligated to attend every week. If you miss a class, feel free to join another class in the same week or at another time, or ask your instructor for a brief review the next time you attend class.

Absolutely! After you purchase a package of classes, feel free to attend any class of the same level in the week.

There is no specific start date. All of our classes teach the specified dances in a rotation continuously. A package of classes is valid for a year from the date of purchase and you can choose to attend whichever classes you like during that year for the level you purchased. Each class has its own rotation of dances that it teaches, please refer to the monthly calendar to see which dance is being taught in each class.

For beginners, we recommend sneakers and athletic shoes with non-marking soles. Jazz shoes also work. For Bronze level dancers and above, we recommend investing in a pair of ballroom dance shoes. Ballroom dance shoes are usually leather for gentlemen and satin for ladies, and always have a suede bottom that assists with movement. We recommend the Dance Shop on Broadway and Avalon Dance Shop on Main Street.

By nature, DanceSport is a partner sport. While a partner would definitely be beneficial, it is definitely not required. We rotate partners in group classes for those who are comfortable with the idea so everyone gets a chance to dance with a partner. Our instructors will also give you some one-on-one attention if you have no partner. We always try our best to ensure that everyone has a good experience.

Depending on floor availability, students are permitted to use our studio space to warm up or practice either prior to or after their group class for up to 30 minutes free of charge.

That depends on your dance experience. We recommend students interested in ballroom dance join the Beginner classes if they’ve never tried ballroom dancing or if they have little to no dance experience. If you have some ballroom dance experience, then it might be a good idea to start in Bronze I or Bronze II level classes. Our entire staff is comprised of competitive ballroom dancers and they’d be more than happy to help you out and find a level that is suitable for you.

We recommend comfortable clothing for ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing is a great way to stay healthy and in shape so be prepared to move! Try to avoid constraining clothing like jeans, suits, and tight dresses. There are no strict rules as long as you are comfortable.
