Junior & Youth Program 2018-07-20T17:12:51+00:00

We offer a number of semester-based dance classes for kids and youths to help them become engaged with ballroom dance from a young age. Each class covers several styles of ballroom dance in both Latin and Standard. Those who want to pursue competition may want to take advantage of our semi-private classes.

Summer 2018

Our youth classes continue in Summer 2018 with a special boot camp by our principal Zillion Wong.

This is an active, challenging, class which teaches children discipline, self confidence and social skills.  The class will focus on physical fitness and coordination through dance technique. Children will develop better sense of balance and posture while gaining a better understanding of music and rhythm.

Classes begin with a warm up consisting of aerobic exercises plus a stretching and strengthening routine. This will be followed by Ballroom and Latin Technique Drills and a short performance routine.

Dances taught include:
Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Waltz, Tango, Quickstep
The class is suitable for children 8-16+ years old. No partner needed.

All students will have the opportunity to show off what they’ve learned at our semester end performance in front of a large audience. In addition, they will also take a DanceSport sanctioned medal test at the end of the semester.

The Benefits of Ballroom Youth Programs

Obviously, dancing gets you on your feet and off the couch. It’s a great way to get some exercise, stretch your muscles, and have a good time doing it. Dancing beats running.

Ballroom dance is the most intense team sport. Working together with your partner is pivotal to success and a healthy dance partnership goes a long way. That means active listening and trying to understand others.

Our instructors will teach you how to keep a beat and dance to the beat! On top of that, you’ll also learn to develop your own sense of creative expression through music and movement.

Ballroom dance is usually danced to be enjoyed by dancers and audience alike. Performing your routines in public will improve your confidence!
